Radiesse Vs Restylane

Dr Bloch is a board certified chicago plastic surgeon that specializes in restylane and radiesse injectionsRadiesse and Restylane are dermal fillers administered through injections under the skin to help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles or creases for both men and women. These non-surgical cosmetic procedures can be administered by qualified dermatologists or physicians. Board certified plastic surgeons who also offer cosmetic treatments like Dr. Bloch can professionally give you the injection. Radiesse is injected just beneath the skin surface and works best for nasolabial folds which run from the corners of the nose down to the mouth corners. The filler contains compounds naturally occurring in human bones; it doesn’t cause allergic reaction and has been approved by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Restylane is Hyaluronic Acid-HA filler and draws water to the treated skin.

Precautions:

Safety for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females or in patients under 18 years has not been established. As with all skin-injection procedures, there is a risk of infection. Patients using medications that prolong bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin, may, as with any injection procedure, experience increased bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Patients should inform their physician if they are using such medications. Patients should minimize exposure of the treated area to extensive sun or heat exposure for approximately 24 hours after treatment or until any initial swelling and redness has resolved. Safety and effectiveness in the periorbital area has not been established. The safety of RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler in patients with a susceptibility to keloid formation and hypertrophic scarring has not been studied. Patients with a history of previous herpetic eruption may experience reactivation of the herpes.

Radiesse adds depleted collagen from your skin so as to plump up folds and smooth out deep facial wrinkles. This dermal filler can also be used to enhance the look of acne scars around the lip. The filler is injected on areas between the nose and mouth or on the nose sides. Radiesse can also plump up flattened cheeks and lines occurring around the eyes. Restylane is administered in the same way but is injected deeper and will likely treat vertical lines above the lip that mostly affect smokers.

Restylane is small particle filler that can work well for fine lines around the lips. Restylane is a hyaluronic acid (HA) which makes it to be easily dissolved even with a lump occurrence. Radiesse does not get dissolved in lump removal. Pricewise, Radiesse is more expensive than Restylane. Dr. Bloch normally assesses skin on the face and neck before choosing an ideal site to inject any of the dermal fillers.

Important Safety Considerations for the Restylane family of products

Treatment volume should be limited to 6.0 mL in wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, and limited to 1.5 mL per lip (Restylane and RestylaneL only), as greater amounts significantly increase moderate and severe injection site reactions. The safety or effectiveness of treatment in areas other than nasolabial folds and lips (Restylane and RestylaneL only) has not been established in controlled clinical studies.

Radiesse and Restylane results

Radiesse has immediate results and can last for as long as 18 months compared to Restylane which lasts for about 6 to 9 months. Whichever dermal filler you have had, the results will always vary. Seek consultation about your individual situation with Dr. Bloch or his team of experts at Body by Bloch before getting any treatment. The doctor and his staff will cooperate with you to develop the right treatment tailored to your needs for natural looking results.

Common symptoms that occur after Radiesse and Restylane treatment include tenderness, swelling and bruising around nasolabial folds which may last for a week. The same effects may last for about 2 weeks in areas around the lips. Your doctor will recommend return visits for re-injections. Restylane re-injections are more frequent compared to Radiesse re-injections. As with most cosmetic procedures, complications should always be reported.
